ALGEBRA 2 TRIG TUTORING

OH MY GRAPH

The transition from algebra to geometry back to algebra can be disorienting for students. While the idea of a function or a relation was introduced with lines and parabolas before, now lines and parabolas are two trivial examples of a whole host of other function classes. Topics that students frequently struggle with include absolute value and other piecewise functions, polynomial functions with complex roots, exponential and logarithmic functions, rational functions, conic sections, and matrices. Some brands of algebra two omit some of these sections, but other teachers manage to produce very difficult honors Algebra Two classes complete with very complicated factoring and simplifying work. No matter the type of instruction you are receiving at school, you’ll benefit from learning how to check your answer with the TI nSpire. If you learn basic proficiencies like nSolve and graphing, you can check you answer as well as troubleshoot where you went wrong.

When you analyze happiness, it turns out that the way you are spending your time is extremely important.

01

A difficult transition

Many students have just gotten used to the type of math work they did in geometry. It can be frustrating to switch to what might seem like a new set of arbitrary rules.

02

The TI nSpire has not yet been banned

Use nSolve if you are expecting one answer, and graph if you are expecting more than one.

03

Don't have an equation?

Substitute an arbitrary number for the variable in both the question prompt and you answer and verify they are the same.
